On the morning of March 29, Professor Kevin Orr, Honorary Dean of the UK Sustainable Academic Center, and his delegation of 7 people visited our college. President Wang Lei met with the British guests, hoping that the two sides could strengthen cooperation in the internationalization of vocational education.Vice President Geng Junmei, heads of Academic Affairs Office, Foreign Affairs Office, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and School of Materials Engineering attended the exchange.
On behalf of the visiting guests, Jiao Xuerong, Director of the Sustainable Academic Center China, first expressed his gratitude to our college for the invitation and explained the basic situation of the Center. Professor Kevin Orr gave a detailed introduction to the background, aims and objectives of Vocational Education Training (VET) in the UK, related policies on vocational education and training, especially apprenticeship and T-level qualifications, and implications of VET training and practice in the UK. Then both sides had an in-depth discussion on the projects related to the internationalization of vocational education, mainly including curriculum development and international curriculum certification, teacher training, international conferences and cooperative education.
On behalf of the college, Geng Junmei extended a warm welcome to Professor Kevin Orr and his delegation, and introduced the basic situation of our college, as well as the achievements and needs of our international cooperation and exchange. It was hoped that the two sides would strengthen contact, deepen exchanges and explore cooperation projects, so as to lay the foundation for our college to build an open and international school-running system, improve the internationalization level and promote the internationalization of vocational education.
The UK Sustainable Academic Center is mainly composed of the University of Huddersfield, 27 vocational colleges and related enterprises in the UK. It focuses on the international construction projects of vocational education, including curriculum development and teacher training.
