On November 2, eleven international students from the School of Civil Engineering at Zhengzhou University, a partner institution of the Alliance College Collaboration, visited the JYVTC campus to begin a cultural exchange and study tour in Jiyuan. The event was attended by Vice President Hao Xiaohui, Party Committee Member Tang Changqing, and relevant leaders from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Department of Architectural Engineering.

At the welcome ceremony, Vice President Hao Xiaohui, on behalf of the college, extended a warm welcome to the visiting teachers and international students from Zhengzhou University. He stated that this visit by Zhengzhou University's international students further enriches the collaboration between the two institutions, providing more opportunities and platforms for student exchanges. He expressed hope that through this event, more international students from Zhengzhou University would join in the interactive exchange process, enhancing their understanding and knowledge of Jiyuan and JYVTC, strengthening communication and cooperation and allowing everyone to seize opportunities and create a brighter future together.
After the ceremony, the international students visited both the New Campus and Qinyuan campus of the college. They also had a sightseeing tour of Jidu Temple and the Jiyuan City Exhibition Hall, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the campus culture at JYVTC, the rich cultural heritage of Jiyuan, the city's development history, and its achievements in the new era.
At the New Campus, the international students visited the training laboratories of the Architectural Engineering Department, the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department, and the Electrical Engineering Department. They observed an on-site demonstration of the following experiments:
During the demonstration, the students displayed great interests in the experiments and actively participated in the experimental processes, creating a lively and joyful interactive learning atmosphere.
At the Qinyuan Campus, the international students visited the New Yugong Public Innovation Space and also learned about the significant achievements the college has made, experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of student innovation and entrepreneurship.
At the Yu Zhonghua Studio, Wang Guozhen, a teacher from the Art Design Department, showcased the brush calligraphy of his elegant piece “High as Mountains and Long as Rivers”,winning great applause from everyone present. The calligraphy works were also presented as gifts to the international students on the spot.
At the Lu Tong Tea Art Master Studio, teachers and students from the Department of Humanities Management demonstrated the "Pangu Tea Ceremony" and traditional dances, revealing the rich cultural heritage of the Central Plains and making the international students deeply captivated by Chinese traditional culture and linger around.
At Jidu Temple, guided by a tour guide and an interpreter, the international students gained a deep appreciation of the temple's profound cultural heritage. Known as the "Treasure Trove of Ancient Architecture in the Central Plains," Jidu Temple fascinated civil engineering students with its more than 20 well-preserved buildings of the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, making them continuously seek cultural knowledge about ancient architecture from the tour guide.
At the Jiyuan Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, every detail is meticulously presented. It utilizes various modern audio-visual technologies such as electronic light maps, e-books, historical film restorations, and virtual tour systems. From the perspective of urban and rural planning, the exhibition hall vividly depicts the city's evolution and development over more than 1400 years, especially since the founding of the People's Republic of China and the reform and opening-up policy. The optimized display methods at the exhibition hall allowed the international students to experience firsthand the achievements of Jiyuan's planning and construction, as well as the beautiful blueprint for urban development.
As the exchange activities drew to a close, teachers and students from Zhengzhou University, along with the counterparts from JYVTC, gathered to take group photos and signed their names on the exchange banner as a memento.
The cultural exchange activity for international students visiting JYVTC was a specific part of the “Alliance College Collaboration" initiative. The preparations began in June, and after concerted efforts from all involved, the event was successfully held and concluded satisfactorily. Teachers and students from Zhengzhou University expressed their gratitude for the enriching visit and expressed appreciation for providing a platform for exchange. They also expressed thanks to the dedicated cultural volunteers who had accompanied them throughout the day, looking forward to future opportunities for such meaningful activities.
This cultural exchange activity has broadened the communication channels between our college and countries along the “Belt and Road” initiative, laid a foundation for deeper international cooperation and exchanges, and is of great significance to enhance the international influence of our college.
